How To

How to make an omelet that is perfect

Omelets are my favorite breakfast dish. But how do they turn out so perfectly? I've tried many recipes and different methods but none have worked. So I am sharing some tips and tricks today to help you make fluffy, delicious omelets every morning.

It is important to know that eggs can be temperamental when making omelets. You must get them fresh, organically, and keep them cold until you cook. If they are not kept cold enough, the whites won’t form properly. The yolks will also break down too quickly and become runny. This causes your omelets to look oddly colored. If you want to make omelets right away, it's best not to use eggs that are too cold.

You can also separate the egg before you add it to the pan. You don't want any white to get mixed up with the yolk because this could cause the omelet to curdle.

You might burn the bottom of the egg if you place the egg directly on the stovetop. This could ruin the texture of your omelet. Instead, place the egg in the microwave for 10 second before you put it in the skillet. The microwave heat will cook the egg just right without making it too hot.

Next, let’s talk about mixing the egg. You want to mix the eggs thoroughly before you add them. To do this, take the bowl from the mixer and flip it upside-down. Then shake the bowl vigorously. The egg will be thoroughly mixed in the bowl as the air is whipped.

Now comes the fun part: adding the milk to your mixture. Mix half of the milk with the eggs. Then fold the eggs in half into the remaining milk. If you still see streaks of eggs, don't worry. These streaks will disappear once the omelet has been turned over.

After folding the eggs fold the pan onto medium heat. When the oil starts to hot, wait for the pan to cook. Once the oil begins to heat, add 1/4 cup butter and swirl the pan to coat it. Next, carefully open the lid and sprinkle salt into your pan. The salt will help to prevent the omelet's sticking to the pan.

Once the omelet forms, cover the pan again. Let the top side set completely. Flip the omelet by using a spatula. Cook the other side for about a minute. Take out the omelet and place it in a bowl.

This recipe works best using whole milk. Skimmed milk is also possible.
